Jody Edwards is an experienced attorney who specializes in real estate development and transactions, land use entitlements, commercial lending and foreclosures, owners’ associations, business organizations and municipal law. Since he began practicing in Aspen in 1985, Jody has developed a reputation for integrity and for finding creative solutions to difficult problems for his clients in the Roaring Fork Valley and beyond. Prior to founding Klein, Coté and Edwards in 2004, Jody worked with his father, an attorney who was one of the pioneers of Pitkin County land use regulation, and with other private firms in Aspen and the Roaring Fork Valley.
Jody’s clients rely on his exceptional knowledge of local development and land use law — the result of representing the Town of Basalt, Colorado for nearly a decade — and his tenure as the Chairman of the Pitkin County Planning and Zoning Commission. He regularly appears before city and county governing bodies and commissions for matters related to land use entitlements.
Jody represents residential and commercial buyers and sellers, borrowers and lenders, and landlords and tenants. He represents developers in all phases of the real estate development process, including land use due diligence and real estate acquisition, annexation and entitlement processes, preparing covenants and common interest community documentation, negotiating architectural and construction contracts and sales documentation.
Jody also has extensive experience with Homeowners Association law and counsels a number of HOAs in matters related to financing of improvements to common areas and the drafting, modification, enforcement and interpretation of governing documents.
